A note from Elsie Gilliam, Chair of the Church of Christ Ladies Lectureship-Retreat (COCLLR).
I pray you all are keeping calm during this storm because we know who is with us and who is in control. Rest assured that God has promised never to leave us nor forsake us. The Church of Christ Ladies Lectureship Retreat (COCLLR) extends our condolences and deepest sympathies to all families and friends who have lost loved ones during this pandemic. Many communities felt the strong impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19), and we personally want to share with you the steps we have taken in order to make the 35th Annual COCLLR a success.
Due to the unpredictability and uncertainty of COVID-19, and out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our attendees, the retreat has been postponed until May 13-16, 2021 at the same venue in Louisville, Kentucky. Please note that there will be NO REFUNDS per our Feb 15, 2020 deadline policy, as all collected funds were allocated towards a myriad of non-refundable conference fees. You do not need to take any action, everyone’s registration is automatically rolled over to 2021. If you have not registered, you may do so at any time between now and April 10, 2021. You are considered registered for the COCLLR regardless of payment status (i.e. payment plans) and refunds/rollovers will not be granted for no-shows. The COCLLR cannot accept refund requests that result from cancelled flights and/or natural disasters. Please retain a copy of this letter and notify your mode of transportation directly if affected by COVID-19. Please see our list of Frequently Asked Questions posted across all social media platforms.
With new dates come changes in the hotel rates because these new dates fall within the hotel peak season. The adjusted costs are $139/night for standard rooms and $149/night for a suite. Previous reservations will be automatically cancelled by the hotel if reserved under the COCLLR group room block. We will provide a link for room reservations by Friday, May 29, 2020 via social media, DO NOT call the hotel directly.
We continue to monitor local and national reports on the evolution of COVID-19. Based on the current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and White House Task Force, the Church of Christ Ladies Lectureship Retreat has implemented safety and security protocols to help protect the health of our attendees. There will be hand sanitizer stations throughout the conference area along with hourly cleaning of service areas and contact surfaces. The nurse’s station is available for first aid and temperature checks, and customer service areas will reflect current distancing guidelines. Our goal is to provide as much information as possible because we believe preparation prevents panic, and that God has not given us a spirit of fear.
Ladies, our God has given us a year of rest, so let’s stay safe and take this time to stay focused and draw closer to Him. On Thursday night of the retreat, instead of a Pep Rally we are going to have a Praise Rally. Same God, same place, same colors, same theme. He Calms the Storms Within. Remember God is in control and we are all in this together. Be safe and see you on May 13-16, 2021 in Louisville Kentucky.
